Balancing Bliss

bdays bdays bdays............

thanks to everyone who sent brian a bday wish.......it was awsome........my plan backfired a bit because everyone emailed and face booked me anyways.....

we didn't do much for our bday....i was still sick....but that didn't stop us from celebrating in yumminess...

i baked brian a cheesecake. he got my hair done...okay not really but that is what we decided on...my friend toni who used to do our hair was in town and did my hair....and when there was some left over... well what to do?

luci walked by and pointed at the magazine and said "toni i want that one!" and so we said "i don't care....go for it"

my grandparents came over with goodness.....i had admired something they had displayed in their home and they took notice and found one for me....

it's a nativity scene in a gourd that closes up the rest of the year....isn't that cool?

on our actual bday we went to church where i embarrassed my husband by telling a few people ...the ones that might sing to him in front of EVERYONE....then we went home watched 3 basketball games and ordered pizza.......wouldn't have it any other way. then he surprised me with;

 

between the two of us we might have to start getting an economy pack of candles at costco!

then a day or two later i come home to a box on the porch....the card read "kati i hope this is what you were looking for, if not, this is a very strange birthday present"

and this was in the box! i had been looking for one in the antique stores while i was in portland. thanks jen............i LOVE it.

 luci has wanted earrings since well forever...if we go to target she doesn't say a word but if we enter the mall (any mall) from any direction she starts in with "i want to get my ears pierced" "where is the earring store?"  so for her bday her great grandma got her a gift card to claire's.

 i picked her up from pre-school yesterday and she announced "remember my card grandma got me for my bday?  i want to get my ears done today" so i called......wanting to make sure that there would be 2 people there because i have heard kids under 6 walk out with only one ear pierced if you don't do them at the SAME time. 4pm? great ....we'll be there.........

 and here you are start to finish.....

at this point she is giddy.....she skipped into the mall (for reals) singing "i'm going to get my ears pierced, i'm going to get my ears pierced"....

she talked their ear off......all about her cats and playdates and then she saw the gun...

hmmmm....maybe i should re-think this one....

ya....maybe this ISN"T what i had planned....

she last minute said..."i think i'll just hold my moms hand" which melted her mommas heart... (not enough to put down the camera and hold her but still.....)

     

and....

and proof that chocolate makes any hurt go away....

they even let her keep those handy dandy hair clips...she wore them all night...speaking of night... so it comes time to put the stuff on her ears and turn them.....i knew it wouldn't be easy the first time or two until she learned it didn't hurt.....guess what? it won't turn!!!!!!!!!  i'm totally freaked out.. in private of course and not in front of her...i've given birth 3 times....i've had 8 tattoos and have plans for many many more......but i don't have my ears pierced.....can't do it...makes me hurt and squirm.. blah!....so i called megan and she came over first thing this morning!  come to find out...one spins fine the other doesn't because the back is on TOOOOO tight and i have to take her down to the mall again to get it fixed. poor girl.........but doesn't she look so pretty? well when i get a shot of her earrings and her not crying.....very cute.

oh how i've tried............

we have had some internet connection problems this week..............i have started 3 entries and i just couldn't post them or i would lose connection..........so........if this one works.....i will be on here again tomorrow morning..........crossing fingers!

true blue....

flu that is.........i'm feeling pretty awful........because i now know how bad my littles felt in the past weeks. it hit me sunday night. i start to feel ok during the day and then by 5pm i'm down and out for the night with aches, fever, and coughing. fun stuff.

it's true what they say......

there is such truth in birth order.......i have proof

gaven walked in the door play a flute from school.....he wanted to master it over the weekend...the over achiever;

i asked "where is your brother?!" and he replied "he is riding his grocery cart home"

yes.....you read that right. we live a block from the school and our eli blu found a grocery cart and rode it home.........hence the middle child!

and then there is your baby of the family.....everything they do is cute or funny and they can do things that the first child would have NEVER done. they may have tried to do but you would have gone into a parenting overload or ran them straight to the dr. office. such as;

what they say is true...........by the way.....who are 'they' ??

be mean???....

my eli blu is learning to read and asked why someone asked him to "be mean"......it was a valentine that read "be mine"........love him

it's good to be a sade kid;

we had a very relaxed non-commercial valentines. i made french toast and they got to eat all the powdered sugar and strawberries they wanted. brian rented 'ps i love you' and i bawled my eyes out.

he DID do something with luci girl the day before and it won my heart....

he took his little girl on a date and she came home with flowers and these little sweet toys from a local toy shop. i think it is so important for daddy's to build that relationship with their girls. it builds a high expectation for what kind of guy they will allow in their life. she is so proud. cuteness.
