i have planned meals for 5 days for 6 people plus a potluck dish, i have shopped for and packed the menu, cooked the meals up ahead of time, baked brownies AND cookies, i have made list after list of camping gear, activities, and 'stuff', i packed clothes for 5 of us, loaded up most of it, found someone to stay with our kitties while we are away, and all with my three children and dad in tow......my dad usually counts as the equivalent of 2 children ..... so i would say i did pretty darn good today...!
sucking up the last few minutes i have with internet....it will be so good to get away from the house hunting on-line but oh how i will miss blogs, email and even facebook. sigh....
on the other hand i look forward to sitting on the shore watching the kids catch frogs, roasting marshmallows, making home in our tent (i was just meant to be a wife...i love doing that stuff), staying up late after the kids are in the tent and watching the fire burn, some embroidery under the shade of a tree or doing absolutely nothing at all...
this year i hope to make a home for fairies with my luci girl...a tradition by soulemama and a desire of mine since i read it in her book 'the creative family'.....making memories....gaven is getting his first pocket knife to finish his hiking stick....eli blu might just learn to swim....and this is the first year we are bringing bikes.... normally we have 5 people PLUS all our gear and food in 1 minivan....this year poppy is going along...he has a truck with a canopy and a boat....
now that everything is 'done'.....i am feeling ready to partake in the enjoyment of it all.......
like early mornings in a tent
bathing in melting snow
enjoying quiet times...not being hooked up to electricity and realizing your brother is kinda cool
being out in the wide open spaces.....
this was a trip to mt. rainier a few years ago.....how fast time went by...i can't believe how small they were.....and in a couple of years i will say that about 2009....so we are off to make some memories...
